RAM Memory 2025: a guide to choosing the best for your system
RAM memory is one of the components most sensitive to compatibility, latency, and speed. In our RAM Memory category, you’ll find DDR4 and DDR5 modules from well-known brands, with capacities ranging from 4 GB to 64 GB, different frequencies, latencies, and voltages. Here we explain what to consider to make a precise and effective choice.
RAM capacity: how much do you really need?
- 4 GB / 8 GB: enough for very basic tasks, light browsing, and office work. Suitable for office or education PCs… 4 GB clearly limits what you can actually do.
- 16 GB: the recommended starting point in 2025 for gaming, light editing, or smooth multitasking.
- 32 GB: ideal for video editing, graphic design, programming, or demanding simultaneous workloads.
- 48 GB / 64 GB: specialized use cases, virtual machines, rendering, or very heavy projects.
RAM frequency (speed)
RAM frequency affects the bandwidth your system can achieve. In our catalog you’ll find modules ranging from 1600 MHz up to 6000 MHz. Key points to consider:
- DDR4 commonly ranges between 2666 MHz and 3600 MHz; DDR5 already reaches 4800 MHz, 5600 MHz, and beyond.
- On modern AMD AM5 and Intel platforms, higher frequencies show noticeable improvements, especially in gaming and memory-intensive tasks.
- Higher MHz isn’t always better if latency (CL) is very high — the balance between latency and speed matters.
CL latency and voltage: critical factors
When choosing a module, speed isn’t everything: latency (CL or CAS) and voltage are key:
- CL9 to CL40: our catalog covers latencies from CL9 up to CL40. Lower latency (CL9, CL16) means better responsiveness, but usually comes with lower frequencies.
- Typical voltage: 1.2 V and 1.35 V modules are common and safe. You’ll also find some 1.1 V models and higher voltages (1.4–1.5 V) for special configurations.
- With DDR5, internal power management (PMIC) makes voltage less critical for users, but with DDR4 it still plays a role in system stability.
Form factor and memory type
- DIMM vs SODIMM: DIMM is for desktop PCs, SODIMM is for laptops or mini PCs. Both formats are available in our catalog.
- UDIMM: unbuffered modules, standard for home and professional use.
- DDR3 / DDR4 / DDR5: although DDR3 is still present, DDR4 and DDR5 dominate today. DDR5 is the growing standard thanks to higher bandwidth and efficiency.
Tips for choosing compatible and stable RAM
To pick the perfect RAM for your system:
- Check that your motherboard / chipset supports the frequency and type (DDR4 or DDR5).
- Match identical kits (brand, frequency, latency) to avoid compatibility issues.
- For overclocking or XMP/EXPO, choose modules with high-quality circuitry and clear voltage margins.
- On systems with integrated GPUs, faster RAM can make a noticeable difference thanks to higher bandwidth.
Explore our filters by capacity (8 GB, 16 GB, 32 GB, etc.), frequency (3200 MHz, 4800 MHz, 5600 MHz…), and latency (CL16, CL18, etc.). All modules we offer are guaranteed and ready for fast shipping.
